Carl is head of Chartwell Partners and the founder of ETFfolios.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the investment business and has been a global ETF specialist since 2002.

Carl was an ETF specialist with UBS, opened markets in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Australia as Vice President with the investment firm Robert W. Baird & Company, covered Asian & European markets with BancBoston, was an international economist with the U.S. Congress, served as a consultant to the U.S.Treasury, and represented the United States on the Board of Directors of the Asian Development Bank in Manila, Philippines.

Carl has written three books on global ETF investing, writes the “Global Gambits” column for Forbes, and is a frequent speaker on global investing and ETFs.

He is a graduate of the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, attended Sophia & Keio University in Tokyo, Japan, and studied at Harvard University’s Asian Center.
